None of the state institutions in Armenia seems to be willing to help a paralyzed wife, who has been lying helplessly in her apartment for two months now. The neighbours have gone everywhere and knocked on all possible doors, including the Paros Foundation, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Ministry of Health, etc. The apartment has three rooms. Two months ago Armik Martirosyan, 59, ha access to all rooms. Then, all of a sudden, doctors found a tumour in her head. One of the neighbours says the woman’s relatives used to come and give her a piece of bread. On the first days of the illness, some of the relatives treated Armik Martirosyan very cruelly. They took away with them all household items and products, even closed the doors of the two rooms and the toilet. ‘They did not even leave a washtub for her to wash,’ says the neighbour. Armik Martirosyan lived in Etchmiadzin for a short time where her nephew and stepdaughter looked after her. Then the womna’s relatives tried to place her at the psychiatric clinic in Yerevan’s Avan district, but the clinic did not accept her. Today Armik Martirosyan can neither stand nor sit. She is lying on the floor all day long with one desire in her mind. “I want to correct the position of my feet and straighten them back,” she says. One of the neighbours has brought for her a meal, but cannot feed the woman as she cannot stand the unhygienic condition in the room. The other neighbour has brought cherries.  “Do you recognise me?” she asks. Armik Martirosyan shares her bed with ants… The refrigerator is empty, there is no electricity…Her neighbours continue to apply to relevant bodies but to no avail. The woman cannot even raise   her head up off the pillow  to look out of the window and enjoy the beautiful summer days…
