Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun no longer frown on the idea of making a coalition government with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). The two forces are now discussing a number of issues together. “We do not rule out that option. If we see during the discussions that we can be helpful in some issues and are ready to assume full responsibility for their solution, we may form a coalition government,” says Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction in the Armenian parliament. However, at this moment the two forces are not holding negotiations over the new coalition government. “We are discussing the problems and challenges in the country as well as the package of constitutions reforms,” Mr Minasyan added. Dashnaktsutyun wants the two forces to feel equally responsible for the existing problems and challenges. “It does not matter in which camp you are – in the government or not –you should bear full responsibility for the government activities,” he said. At present, there is some disagreement between the HHK and Dashnaktsutyun and Artsvik Minasyan does not want to speak about it. “If the problems are solved by united efforts based on mutual understanding we shall take that step, otherwise we shall continue to act as an opposition force,” said Mr Minasyan. The Dashak lawmaker did not open the brackets and only said that they regularly meet the country’s president and the prime minister to discuss different issues. Dashnaktustyun has been asked about the possibility of forming a coalition government foe seven years ever since it left the coalition. “We have been giving the same answer for seven years, saying we do not have such an intention.”
