To marry or not to marry in May? This is the question (video)
Only five marriages were performed at St. Sarkis Church in Yerevan in May, with four of the couples being Syrian Armenians. Representatives of Armenian Apostolic Church say the avoidance of marriages in May is a result of superstition and non-Christian behavior. “In recent years, marriages were forbidden during the Holy Week - the period between from Palm Sunday until Easter, says Priest Shahe Hayrapetyan of t St Sargis Church. Elza Manukyan, editor of qahana.am website, tried to prove on her own example that by not marrying in May people try to avoid various dangers and failures.
