Auto march: “Freedom to political prisoners” (video)
The auto march of the Founding Parliament towards Vardashen and Nubarashen penitentiary institutions started from the territory near Matenadaran. With the slogans and calls “We are the owners of our country”, “Freedom to heroes, criminals in prison”, “Freedom to political prisoners”, and with the photos of imprisoned freedom fighters and other citizens and posters in their hands, the members of the Founding Parliament and civil activists approached the building of Vardashen penitentiary institution. Shushi special battalion commander Jirayr Sefilyan thanked all the international and Armenian organizations for their demand to release them and assured that in case of continuing such actions “they will see all the guys in freedom. I think that persistence and consistency will give their results. There are all the legal and political bases to see the guys in freedom.” Sefilyan called on the international organizations to give such reaction, as in their case. Touching upon the arrests of Shant and his friends he assured that the police system must have stood trial together with them, as the police system, according to Sefilyan, on November 5, 2013, besides accompanying the march, provoked the situation. The members of the Founding Parliament and the civil activists marched from Vardashen penitentiary institution to Nubarashern PI. The calls and demands were the same. Garegin Chukaszyan noted that the political prisoners imprisoned in Armenian jails would bring honor to any country. “Those devotees, Shant Harutyunyan, Hayk Kyureghyan, Volodya Avetisyan will bring honor to any nation, which is under tyrannical regime. The regime will yield, as it yielded after keeping us for a month in a prison. Due to our supporters and organizations, the voice of protest reached influential international authorities and the regime yielded under their influence. Through civil disobedience we will reach a final retreat of the regime”, noted Chukaszyan. Police forces were following the whole process of the auto march, march and gathering. There wasn’t any incident.
