Varuzhan Hakobyan defeats Samuel Sevyan
During the first round of US Men Chess Championship two Armenian chess players faced each other. Experienced Grandmaster Varuzhan Hakobyan, who played with white pieces, defeated 15 years old Samuel Sevyan and scored the first point. Today playing with black pieces he will face the championship’s main favorite Hikaru Nakamura, who also won the first match. Samuel Sebyan playing with white pieces will face more experienced Grandmaster Gata Kamsky. At Women’s Championship our compatriot Tatev Abrahamyan playing with white pieces lost to International Master Annie Wang in the first round. In the second round she will face FIDE Master Alisa Melekhina.
