Verdict in Vardan Petrosyan's case to be announced Jan 29
The verdict in the high-profile case involving famous actor Vardan Petrosyan will be announced on January 29, Judge Vaghnak Mkrtchyan said on Monday. In his last speech, Vardan Petrosyan said he did not plead guilty and did not feel bitterness towards anyone. Earlier, the prosecutor motioned the court to sentence Petrosyan to 6,5 years in prison. Petrosyan was taken to jail in connection with the deadly road accident in October 2013 in which his BMW collided with another vehicle, Niva, on the Yeghvard-Yerevan highway. Two passengers of the Niva were killed in the crash. Petrosyan himself was among the injured people who were hospitalized that night. Petrosyan later declared that he would not run away from justice and was ready to bear responsibility if found guilty as charged.
