Police prevent protesters from approaching MP Samvel Alexanyan (video)
A group of citizens are holding a protest outside the government building in Yerevan against the currency fluctuations and the ensuing increase in prices. The protesters demand that prices be immediately lowered and the financial market be stabilized otherwise they promise to boycott all stores belonging to oligarchs. While the group was presenting their demands to government representatives, Republican MP Samvel Alexanyan, better known to the public by the nickname Lfik Sam, hurriedly left the building. People began chanting, “Shame on you, Lfik!” He got into his luxurious Mercedes and tried to leave the area but people followed him. Police officers came to help Alexanyan and prevented journalists and civil society activists from approaching the Republican MP.
