Every year 10 women die as a result of violence (video)
On International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a march was held in Yerevan. The photos of women, who died as a result of violence, were on the posters of the activists. “They needed help, but no one supported them, as very often deaths are the final result of continuous beating and violence,”- noted activist Nelli Arakelyan. According to official statistics, every year in our country more than 10 women die as a result of family violence. Armenia still doesn’t have a law on “Family violence”. The public sector presented a draft long ago, but it wasn’t accepted. One of the reasons was lack of financial resources. At the end of the march, which started from the Republic Square, the activists handed in 131 draft and more than 2000 signatures of the citizens to the National Assembly. Details in the video
