Spokesman of the Ministry of Education and Science has answered former chess teacher Narek Varazdatyan who today returned his teaching license. “The founding director of Narva Chess School Narek Varazdatyan today returned his certificate issued by Minister Armen Ashotyan in 2011. I agree that each citizen has the right to express his or her opinion and is free choose any legitimate means to express his/her protest, anyway, I would like to say that the licence granted to Mr Varazdatyan is in in force for three years and I cannot understand Varazdatyan’s decision to return the licence two months before its expiration date,” said Zohrap Yeganyan. The Ministry official refrained from commenting on Varazdatyan’s statements concerning Minister Armen Ashotyan, saying they were ‘ungrounded and absurd.’ Zohrap Yeganyan also wished Narek Varazdatyan success in his future undertakings. In February 2013, Narek Varazdatyan was invited to work at Yerevan School N8 after Pushkin where he was involved in conflict.  “The point was that I put bad marks to the grandchildren of Serzh Sargsyan and Hovik Abrahamyan for their inappropriate behavior,” tells the teacher. Narek Varazdatyan says he did not want to work in a state establishment, therefore he opened Narva. However, during the celebrations of Erebuni-Erevan the pupils of the chess school were not allowed to participate in the competitions, saying they were to register in advance.
