Vardavar Celebrations to be held in Ashtarak
Celebrations dedicated to Vardavar, one of few ancient Armenian festivals that has survived to this date, are due to be held at the Perch Proshyan House-Museum in Ashtarak on July 27. The events start at 11:30 at Karmravor Church in Ashtarak, with a harvest blessing ceremony and sacrifice offering. This will be followed by a ceremonial procession to Perch Proshyan House-Museum where the participants will be met by a ropewalker and clown, who will entertain the guests. Also, traditional songs and dances and games dedicated to the feast will be performed outside the church. The event will be wrapped up with a concert to be performed by pupils of the school named after Perch Proshyan.
